Nest's outdoor camera (£159)
Nest has
finally launched its outdoor security camera in the UK alongside an
introductory offer that takes £20 off the total cost of the lightly ruggedised
cam.
Admittedly, the introductory discount means that the outdoor camera is
currently exactly the same price as the indoor one, but with the additional
outdoor protection of waterproofing. Aside of that it offers the same
3-megapixel sensor, 130-degree field-of-view and 8 infrared LEDs to provide a
night vision mode.
You'll receive alerts on your phone
via the Nest app whenever it detects movement, but the Google-owned company
says it has the smarts to distinguish between a person and other moving objects
or animals. And, of course, there's the option of subscribing to Nest's full
cloud backup plan that keeps a copy of all recorded activity.
Just like the indoor camera, you can
also use it to speak and listen to whoever is at the camera without going
outside.
If you already have other Nest
devices, like the Protect or Thermostat, opting for the outdoor camera
over rivals is a no-brainer.
